Menopause is a transition in women’s life that is accompanied with many physical and psychological changes. The phase of life called menopause is the result of a decline in the production of estrogen and progesterone by the ovaries. The health impact of menopause affects the skeletal system, cardiovascular system, cognitive and mood functions. The oral implications of menopause can include periodontal disease, xerostomia, and burning mouth syndrome. This class has been developed to educate dental professionals in menopause and how it affects oral health.
